In 1996, Nelson Lopez Sr, purchased what was once an art studio belonging to the old Pahokee High School. After many years of experience in the world of boxing, Nelson and his son Nelson Jr transformed this old art studio into a home of champions. From the Colombian born IBF light-flyweight champion Mauricio Pastrana, to Former WBO Title holder and Kazakhstani Olympian Kanat Islam, "Lake 'O' Boxing" (now KOMMUNITY Box-Fit) saw the likes of fighters from all over the world.
Fast forward a decade and after many years of staying lowkey, KOMMUNITY Box-Fit is now owned and operated by 3 generations of Lopez's coming together to create a home for fighters, from those who have never gloved up, to those who are going for gold.
The knowledge of the sweet science has been carefully passed down through the Lopez generations. Each generation has added its own touch of modernization, ensuring that while our methods evolve to stay contemporary, our deep-rooted traditions remain intact. This blend of heritage and innovation makes KOMMUNITY Box-Fit a unique sanctuary for all who step into the ring.
UNITY.
DISCIPLINE.
RESPECT.
We don’t have much in our small town, but our values are never hard to find. Unity means through everything, we stand together. Respect keeps us grounded and supportive of one another. Discipline pushes us to keep grinding, no matter what. We believe in lifting each other up and staying true to our beliefs. Join us, and let’s grow together, in and out of the ring, as a KOMMUNITY.
